Catering Pack
January 30th, 2010
A man with a big tractor brought this great big bale of hay today. The boss says that it’s a catering pack for the sheep. It looks jolly big to me, but I expect that they’ll gobble it up in no time at all. Helgi
Winter Tolt Series -Etal
January 29th, 2010
The boss is in charge again this weekend. I don’t know whether that’s good or not. He’s doesn’t seem to get up very early. The boss’ wife is going to Etal in Northumberland. She’s judging a competition there on Saturday. It’s called the Winter Tolt Series. They have the competition indoors. It sounds jolly civilised. [...]
Bóndadagur
January 22nd, 2010
According to today’s Iceland Review Today is Bóndadagur, or Husband’s Day, when wives and girlfriends in Iceland pamper their men. Bóndadagur also marks the beginning of the old Icelandic month of Thorri, during which the Thórrablót mid-winter feasts are held across the country. The sport team had their training session cancelled today because it was snowing. Where is their dedication? Me and Kongur are stuck out here in all weathers with only a few blades of wet grass to chew on and they are indoors in nice warm stables. I saw the haylage delivery come yesterday. It looked [...]
Rugs On
January 18th, 2010
The boss’ wife has put rugs on Erro and Stjarna. Erro says that he’s feeling like toast. The boss says that it’s to stop them getting dirty, so that the boss’ wife doesn’t have to bush them very much before riding them. I asked him why I didn’t have one. He didn’t seem to know [...]
Boss’ Wife spotted in Pond
January 16th, 2010
The boss and his wife were down in the pond this morning extracting the last of the drowned sheep. The ice was still there but it broke when the boss’ wife walked on it. She was wearing a very fetching pair of neoprene fisherman’s waders – borrowed off a fisherman no less! The snow has [...]
Weather Forecast
January 12th, 2010
I’ve put a special weather info gadget on the blog so that you can all see what the weather is going to do here. I thought that the boss might need to know how much it is going to rain at the weekend so that he can arrange to let me have my nice stable [...]
